Seymour Hersh, a world renowned investigative journalist who spoke at my school last year, has ruffled a lot of feathers with this frightening and insightful piece.
Looks like Bush hasn't learned his lesson. We're going after Iran, Hersh estimates, and we might launch precision strikes sometime this summer. Anyone who thinks this isn't the best idea simply isn't welcome at the table, according to Hersh's sources.
So, let me get this straight. After we rain bombs on Iran, the people will welcome us with open arms, right? And the government in Iran will become weak after we bomb them, right, so the Iranian people can rise up and install a pro-US democracy? Got it. Sounds like another foolproof plan. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
Wow. It's a good thing we re-elected the team that brought us Iraq and Afganistan. Otherwise we might actually focus on something do-able and important, like the loose nukes in the former Soviet Union or tackling poverty in our own country.
