Thanks to Anne for the tip on yet another tragic story from Israel and Palestine today.
The New York Times, ABCNews, have a headline on its front page today about the Israeli army's extrajudicial killing of a wanted, senior member of Islamic Jihad. Jihad has announced that the tenuous ceasefire that had been declared in February is over, and rockets have been launched from Gaza into the Israeli town of Sderot.
NYTimes: Israel Kills Top Palestinian Militant in West Bank
ABCNews: Gaza gunmen fire rockets after Israel kills militant
More later on these headlines and how they fit into the project later.
UPDATE: 11:24PM -- The Israelis have launched more airstrikes in Gaza. No headlines about these incidents currently appear on the websites we monitor, but we still count these two headlines as they did appear earlier in the day.
The NYTimes and ABCNews stories both contained no images.
Both of these headlines directly blame Israel for the violent killing of a Palestinian, and they count as the 9th and 10th in our tally of this kind of headline. Full tallies and project details are available here.
