These photos come from Erik's visit to Athens and Delphi
in
September 2000. Enjoy.
This
is the Acropolis seen from immediately below in the Plaka district of
Athens.
The Acropolis is the ancient peak of Greek architecture. Here we go.
Well, there's me, looking up at the
entrance to the Acropolis.
The entrance to the Acropolis,
looking back out toward the new city.
Here you can see the Parthenon basking
in the sun and looking quite stalwart from the side.
The Parthenon
is called the crowning achievement in ancient Greek architecture. It has very advanced techniques, including the use of tapered columns to
avoid the optical illusion of thickening in the middle. Amazing.

Two very nice young women that Zac and I
met on our trip to Delphi.
The view at Delphi. Spectacular...
An ancient theatre in Delphi.
There I am, pondering the ancient wonders
of Greece.
Modern Athens.

kept in the Acropolis Museum
The outside of the theatre on the
Acropolis. It's still used today for plays and concerts.
