The Western Wall

The Western Wall is all that remains of the destroyed First and Second Temples from ancient times.

As my colleague Larry put it: "Seeing Jews, who have been so oppressed for so long, pray together as a family at the Wall... it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

Here are a few images from the Wall, taken by myself and others on the Great Lakes Jerusalem Program.  Notice the dividing fence -- it separates the men's section from the smaller women's section.  Note also the six Stars of David, symbolizing the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
